Notre Dame’s 2017 schedule is starting to become clearer. The 12 opponents have been known for some time, but the kickoff times for Notre Dame’s road games are starting to become finalized.

ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced that Notre Dame and Boston College will kick off at noon EDT when the two teams square off on September 16.

It will mark the first time the Fighting Irish have played the Eagles on the road during the day since 2003. Boston College won that game 27-25, but Notre Dame will enter this contest with a five game winning streak against the Eagles.

Head coach Brian Kelly – a native of Everett, Mass. – is 4-0 against Boston College as the head coach at Notre Dame, including a 31-13 victory in Chestnut Hill in 2010 and a 21-6 road win in 2012. Notre Dame and Boston College last played in 2015 in Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox. Notre Dame won that contest 19-16.

Kelly’s only loss to Boston College came back in 2006 when the Eagles beat his Central Michigan team 31-24. Boston College ended that season 10-3 and ranked No. 20 in both the Associated Press and the Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame holds a 14-9 all-time victory over Boston College and a 5-4 record when playing on the Eagles home field. The Irish have been ranked in each of the last three contests, including a No. 4 ranking in 2012 and 2015, the last two times the teams squared off.

The Fighting Irish are 3-2 under Kelly in games that start at noon.

A week later on September 23 the Fighting Irish will travel to East Lansing, Mich. to take on the Michigan State Spartans. That kickoff is slated for 8:00 PM EDT and will be televised on Fox.

Late kickoffs aren’t new for Notre Dame and Michigan State during the Kelly era. Notre Dame had a late start in 2010 and 2012, with the Spartans winning the first contest 34-31 in overtime and Notre Dame dominating the second matchup 20-3, beating the #10 ranked Spartans on national television.

Michigan State and Notre Dame had a primetime kickoff last fall in Notre Dame Stadium, but the Irish fell to the Spartans by a 36-28 score.

Kelly is 3-2 against Michigan State and 1-1 against the Spartans on the road. Notre Dame holds a 48-29-1 all-time record against the Spartans, which includes a 19-15-1 all-time mark when playing Michigan State on the road.

Kelly also holds a 12-7 record against current Big Ten teams during his seven seasons at Notre Dame.
