On June 10, recruits from all over the country will head to South Bend for the annual Irish Invasion.

There will be several prospects on campus hoping to earn an offer from the Irish, one of whom will be Tywan Francis, a cornerback from New Orleans Landry Walker.

Francis, a 6-foot-0, 180 pound junior, said he was invited to the event after defensive backs coach Todd Lyght visited Landry Walker during the spring evaluation period.

“It was great seeing a big school come to see me,” Francis said. “It feels like a lot of hard work has been paying off.”

Getting invited to the Invasion, Francis said, was a big deal for him.

“It’s a great feeling,” Francis said. “When doors open up, you have to take your shot at the opportunity you have.”

Francis will not only get the opportunity to show the coaching staff what he can do during the camp, but will also get to take a closer look at Notre Dame.

The Louisiana talent said he’s looking forward to seeing South Bend up close.

“I’m very interested in seeing what the school has to offer,” Francis said. “It’s a great academic school and they play big-time football. Notre Dame has a lot of successful people.”

Francis said he’s also looking forward to talking more with Lyght, who he’s already heard a lot of great things about.

“I’ve heard a lot about Coach Lyght,” Francis said. “My uncle is familiar with him and he told me about how Notre Dame has one of the best defensive backs coaches in the country.”

Obviously, the main goal for the visit is to have a great workout and earn an offer from the Irish.

Francis said he’s focused on showing the coaching why he deserves that opportunity.

“I want to go out and showcase my talent and try to stand out,” Francis said. “I want to make it so they have no choice but to offer.”

If that offer were to come, whether it be at the Invasion or down the road, Francis said It would be one of the biggest moments of his football career.

“That would be great,” Francis said. “That would be one of the biggest achievements of my life.”
