Notre Dame is off to a great start in 2018 in regards to its running back recruiting holding a commitment from Rivals250 talent Markese Stepp out of Indianapolis Cathedral.
But, the Irish continue to pursue other targets in an effort to add a second running back in the class to go with Stepp. The staff added another target to the board Saturday evening.
Per his Twitter, Notre Dame has extended an offer to Houston Second Baptist 3-star running back Deion Smith.
The 6-0, 180-pounder also holds offers from TCU, UCLA, Northwestern, Utah, Vanderbilt, Colorado, Iowa State, and Minnesota, among others.
Smith joins three-stars Jahmir Smith out of Sanford (N.C.) Lee County, Butler (Ga.) Taylor County product Lyn-J Dixon and Melbourne (Fla.) Central Catholic product Lavonte Valentine on the Irish running back board.
Smith ranks as the No. 24 all-purpose running back in the nation. According to MaxPreps, Smith rushed for 1,223 yards and 19 touchdowns on 122 carries. He added 494 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 22 catches.
Stayed locked in to Blue & Gold Illustrated for further updates on Smith.
