The Sporting News named a pair of Notre Dame offensive linemen to its preseason All-American list.

Senior left guard Quenton Nelson was named to the publication's first team offensive line while senior left tackle Mike McGlinchey was named to the second team.

TSN had this to say about Nelson:

"Nelson opted to stay in school to help the Irish bounce back from a 4-8 record in 2016, and he’ll be counted on in the new look with offensive coordinator Chip Long. With Nelson, that’s a good start up front."

Notre Dame will face off against five players named to the first or second team preseason list.

USC had a pair of first-teamers in redshirt sophomore quarterback Sam Darnold and junior linebacker Cameron Smith. NC State had two second-team picks in senior defensive end Bradley Chubb and senior athlete Jaylen Samuels. Boston College senior end Harold Landry also made the second-team.

Notre Dame was one of 11 teams with multiple picks on the preseason list.
