With 12 players already committed in the 2018 class, the Notre Dame coaching staff has already made major inroads in the 2019 class. Its latest offer is to Naples (Fla.) four-star running back Cesare "Chez" Mellusi.
Extremely excited to have received my 13th offer from the University of Notre Dame!!!!! pic.twitter.com/S7ONsBumiM— Chez mellusi (@chez_mellusi) June 29, 2017
Mellusi rushed for 581 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore as part of a backfield that had four different players rush for at least 500 yards. He added nine catches for 186 yards and four more touchdowns.
With senior running backs Marcello Charles (958 yards, 9 TD's) and Patrick Pierre (547 yards, 7 TD's) now gone the bulk of the carries in 2017 should fall to Mellusi, a rising junior who has gained a lot of interest from college coaches this spring.
Mellusi is already making a name for himself with his speed, on and off the football field. He posted a 22.31 as a freshman in the 200-meter dash at the Florida High School Athletic Association 3A District 12 finals, finishing second at the event.
Notre Dame adds to what is a quickly growing offer list for Mellusi, who has also been offered by Miami (Fla.), Michigan, USC, Auburn, Boston College, Arizona, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina and Rutgers.
