������ football recruiting Wolverines Already Working ��� On Class Of 2013 T he nature of recruiting is, by definition, forward-thinking. Once a recruiting class is complete, it���s simply ���on to the next one��� for coaches and the fans who follow recruiting. Michigan���s class of 2012 is still five months away from putting their names in ink, and Brady Hoke���s coaching staff has done an excellent job putting together a highly touted recruiting class early, save for a few pieces that they���ll wait for as long as necessary. That doesn���t mean they get to rest, though. They just roll right along to the class of 2013. The coaching staff has already identified and offered several junior prospects and even has two commits already in the class. Until the 2012 crop is signed, projecting needs for the class is difficult. The initial offers are going to top level prospects that every college program would want. ��� Quarterbacks There will be a need for a quarterback in 2013. Denard Robinson will be a senior for the 2012 season, Devin Gardner will be a junior and Russell Bellomy, barring any need to use him this year, will be a redshirt freshman. With no current commits (and no realistic options remaining) in the 2012 class, Michigan will only return two signal callers for the 2013 season. Fortunately, the Wolverines have already picked up a top 2013 quarterback. Shane Morris De La Salle High School/Warren, Mich. Morris was the first commit in Michigan���s 2013 class, and the 6-3 190-pound lefty could make a case for being the top pro-style quarterback in the nation for that year. He has a strong, accurate arm and an underrated ability to make plays with his feet. Morris simply needs more experience with the mental side of the game before he is ready to play at the college level. Michael Shaw, Michael Cox and Vincent Smith will graduate by the time the 2013 class enrolls, so there is a need for a running back. If the Michigan coaching staff can land a top runner in 2012 ��� Canton (Ohio) GlenOak tailback Bri���onte Dunn, who is currently committed to Ohio State, seems to be the only one they���re pursuing heavily at this time ��� the need isn���t as strong. However, they���d still be happy to land a top runner, particularly a bigger back who fits the new offense. Wyatt Shallman Detroit Catholic Central High School/ Novi, Mich. Shallman is big enough to get scholarship offers from many schools as a defensive lineman, but the 6-3 250-pound local product insists that Michigan is recruiting him as a running back. He would certainly be an intimidating load to tackle in Michigan���s downhill running scheme, since he has the burst to get to the second level.
