RISING UP
Two-star wideout Quintel Kent from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward got his
recruitment out of the way before his high school season started, pledg-
ing to the Wolverines Aug. 4 via a tweet.
Despite his modest Rivals.com ranking, the U-M coaches saw him in
person at a prospect camp in June, where he earned wide receiver MVP
honors to lead to his offer.
The 6-0, 170-pounder continued to stand out when his prep squad took
on Canton (Ohio) McKinley in a preseason scrimmage three days after
his commitment. He only logged about 20 plays, but had four catches
for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns, not including this leaping
grab where he rose above two defenders and contorted his body to make
the secure the ball but was pushed out of bounds in mid-air.
If the speedster continues to show out like he has this summer, he
should eclipse last year's totals of 40 catches for 625 yards and nine
touchdowns, and his recruiting ranking should rise alongside his statistics.
