Penn State's hot streak continues Nittany Lions add six prospects to Class of 2019 in July and early August | T he Penn State coaching sta7 stayed hot on the recruiting trail in July and August, adding six new prospects to their upcoming class. The coaches' suc- cess pushed the class to No. 11 in the Ri- vals.com team rankings as of early August. Over the past two months, the Nittany Lions have added three four-star prospects and three three-star prospects. Wide receiver John Dunmore of Holly- wood, Fla., is the highest-ranked addi- tion, while quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. of Eugene, Ore., and o7ensive lineman Saleem Wormley of Smyrna, Del., also are in the Rivals250. The Lions brie6y had an additional prospect in their class, but o7ensive line- man Zachary Franks decommitted on Aug. 10, only eight days a9er announcing for Penn State. A three-star prospect from Baltimore, Franks now plans to at- tend Northwestern. Here, listed in the order of their com- mitments, are the prospects who have recently announced plans to sign with the Lions: LANCE DIXON Penn State added a second linebacker to the Class of 2019 when Dixon, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect from West Bloom- 5eld, Mich., announced for the Nittany Lions on July 1. In the year leading up to his commit- ment, Dixon was a regular visitor to Penn State, taking three uno8cial visits, in- cluding a trip to watch last season's White Out game against Michigan. He then took an o8cial visit with James Franklin and his coaching sta7 June 8-9. "It was a great at- mosphere," Dixon told Rivals.com reporter Josh Helmholdt fol- lowing his o8cial visit. "They 6ew us out, we hung out with the coaches, the coaches' wives and the players. It was a fun experience. My mom and my dad got to [go along]. They de5nitely had a good time." Dixon earned more than two dozen scholarship o7ers before narrowing his list to the Big Ten's best: Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin. He used his second o8cial visit to check out Wisconsin in mid-June, and his deci- sion ultimately came down to a choice between the Nittany Lions and Badgers. Dixon could play either strong-side linebacker or the star position for the Nittany Lions. During his junior season, he racked up 115 tackles and 5ve sacks, F O O T B A L L R E C R U I T I N G For daily and breaking news updates on Penn State football recruiting, visit bwi.rivals.com.
