Under the Dome Top of The Class Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Quinn Cully — Sr., Men's Lacrosse The senior from Duxbury, Mass., is one five players on the Inside Lacrosse preseason All-Big East team this winter. A defensive-minded midfielder, Cully scored one goal last season on his lone shot of the year. He has played in all 47 games of his Notre Dame career. Along with senior goalie John Kemp and senior defense Mat Miller, also all-conference picks, Cully helped man the middle of Notre Dame's top-ranked scoring defense in 2012. Skylar Diggins — Sr., Women's Basketball For the first time in her senior season, and the fifth time in her well-decorated Irish career, Diggins won the Big East Player of the Week award Dec. 23. She led the team to a tournament championship at the World Vision Classic in Las Vegas that week while defeating former NCAA championship game foe Texas A&M. The award puts Diggins in second place in school history with five citations, second only to Ruth Riley's (1997-2001) eight. Trey Mancini — Jr., Baseball The Irish first basemen was one of only two unanimous selections to the preseason All-Big East first team this year. Mancini won all-conference at the end of last season after hitting 12 home runs, driving in 45 runs and scoring 47 runs. He is joined by junior third basemen Eric Jagielo and relief pitcher Dan Slania on the all-conference team. The league's head coaches picked Notre Dame to finish third in the Big East. Dillon Powers — Sr., Men's Soccer Powers earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches' Association of America's All-America Team and its Scholar All-America team in his final season in South Bend. Powers scored five goals and played all but 33 minutes during a regular season that ended with Notre Dame as the No. 1 team in the country. He is one of 54 seniors invited to the MLS Combine in January and holds a 3.4 GPA in political science.
