that we're going to keep moving that thing. That's why we have great balance. "We can move it until we get the right guy to take the shot. And we enjoy moving it." Everyone has enjoyed the re-emergence of junior guard Jerian Grant, who got off to a slow start this season after a strong breakout year as a rookie last year, when he averaged 12.3 points and 4.9 assists in 36.2 minutes per game. He's up to 12.7 points and 5.3 assists in 34.4 minutes per contest (second to senior forward Jack Cooley's 15.2 points per game) midway through his second year of action. "He's really grown up," Brey said. "A year ago here he looked like he was on a JV high school team with his body language and moping around 2012-13 Results/ Upcoming Schedule Date Dec. 15 Dec. 17 Dec. 19 Dec. 21 Jan. 5 Jan. 7 Jan. 12 Jan. 15 Jan. 19 Jan. 21 Jan. 26 Jan. 30 Feb. 2 Feb. 4 Feb. 9 Opponent (TV) Result/Time (ET) vs. Purdue% (ESPN2) W, 81-68 IPFW (ESPNU) W, 74-62 Kennesaw State (ESPN3) W, 85-57 Niagara (ESPNU) W, 89-67 Seton Hall* (BEN) W, 93-74 at Cincinnati* (ESPN2) W, 66-60 Connecticut* (BEN) 2 p.m. at St. John's* (ESPN2) 7 p.m. Rutgers* (BEN) 8 p.m. Georgetown* (ESPN) 7:30 p.m. at USF* (BEN) 12 p.m. Villanova* (ESPN2) 7 p.m. at DePaul* (ESPN2) 2 p.m. at Syracuse* (ESPN) 7 p.m. Louisville* (ESPN) 6 or 9 p.m. % Close The Gap Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis (Notre Dame, Purdue, Butler and Indiana); * Big East game and complaining about fouls. He has really come a long way. … He loves making big shots." Whatever fuel additive Brey mixed in so far in January had the Irish working efficiently while they prepared for a three-week stretch that includes four of six games at home to close out the month. Notre Dame was 21 of 34 (61.8 percent) from beyond the arc through its first two Big East games and had shot better than 50 percent from the field in its last five games. The Fighting Irish were shooting 59.8 percent from the field through 15 games, which led the Big East and ranked fifth nationally. Shaking Off The Rust After putting together a 10-game winning streak, the longest for the Notre Dame men's basketball team since the 2007-08 season and the third such spree in head coach Mike Brey's tenure, the Fighting Irish were forced into a two-week dormancy due to a scheduling quirk. Notre Dame slipped comfortably back into its gold home uniforms and cruised to a 93-74 victory against Seton Hall Jan. 5 in the Purcell Pavilion to open its Big East season. Brey's squad shot 56.5 percent from the field (60.7 in the second half), handed out 25 assists compared to just eight turnovers, and held a 37‑30 advantage on the boards. Notre Dame won its 17th straight home game and 46th in its last 47. It was the team's 11th straight win overall this season and extended its winning streak at home against the Pirates (12-3, 1-1 in Big East) to seven.
