M . | O C T . 1 3 | R E C H A L L | B T N | T V T B A | Penn State's roster has undergone a substantial overhaul since last season with the ad- dition of eight freshmen and two transfers. But you can bet that returnees such as Bryanna Weiskircher and Nia Reed, as well as the crowd at what should be a raucous Rec Hall, will remember all too well how the 2017 season ended and will be eager to see the Nittany Lions prevail in this rematch of an NCAA semi5nal between the two traditional Big Ten powers. Penn State was on the brink of a return trip to the championship match last year, but the Cornhuskers rallied back from match point, then defeated the Lions in the decisive 56h set. Nebraska went on to defeat Florida two nights later and will step into Rec Hall as the defending NCAA champion. The Cornhuskers have since under- gone some turnover of their own, with 5ve seniors from last year's squad having gradu- ated, including three-year captain Kelly Hunter. Nebraska split its 5rst two matches, both against ranked foes, falling 3-1 to fourth-ranked Florida, then sweeping No. 18 Oregon. Coach John Cook has said that he expected some growing pains this year. We'll soon 5nd out which of these promising young teams is growing faster. –M.H.
