PSU The Lions lead the all-time series, 20-1. MOST RECENT MEETING Trace McSorley passed for 315 yards and Saquon Barkley had a 98- yard touchdown on a kickoff re- turn, as the Nittany Lions beat the visiting Hoosiers, 45-14, on Sept. 30, 2017. GOOD NEWS Sophomore Peyton Ramsey has been one of the more accurate quarterbacks in the Big Ten this season. He is completing 68 per- cent of his passing attempts to rank fourth in the conference and 17th in the Football Bowl Subdivi- sion. His average of 24.57 comple- tions per game is 10th-best in the FBS. BAD NEWS One of the reasons Ramsey com- pletes so many passes is that In- diana doesn't throw downfield all that often. The Hoosiers' average of 6.5 yards per completion ranks 11th in the Big Ten. DID YOU KNOW? Last week's 42-16 loss to Iowa took place on homecoming week- end in Bloomington. The Hoosiers have now lost eight consecutive homecoming games. They haven't come up with a victory on homecoming weekend since 2010, when they edged Arkansas State, 36-34. If there's any intan- gible value in playing on the road after two consecutive home losses, James Franklin isn't aware of it. At his news conference on Tues- day, Penn State's coach was asked whether the us-against-the-world mentality that road trips tend to inspire might prove beneficial to a team that seemed to lose its edge in a sloppy loss last Saturday to Michigan State. Franklin didn't waste any time shooting down that theory. "I'd like to play all 12 games in Beaver Stadium if we could," he said. "I don't know if the con- ference would allow us to do that." The conference most certainly wouldn't allow it. But maybe the next-best thing would be to play more road games in places where the Nit- tany Lions have enjoyed their share of success over the years.
