T
ight end Brenton Strange and his
family drove through the night Fri-
day into Saturday to attend Penn
State's game against Ohio State last
month. The reason for their late start: a
Friday night game between
Parkersburg (W.Va.) High and
Wheeling Park. Parkersburg
won, 57-51, thanks in large
part to an outstanding per-
formance by Strange. The 6-
foot-4, 217-pound senior,
who had missed the team's
-rst two games with a hamstring injury,
-nished with nine catches for 177 yards
and two touchdowns.
A0er making a couple of rest stops
along their route, Strange and his family
arrived at Penn State just
before 5 a.m. As an o/-
cial visitor, he was es-
corted by members of the
recruiting sta. to the
Nittany Lion Inn, where
he was able to rest up for
a few hours. Later that
morning, the family met with Penn
State's coaching sta. for brunch, and
they were on hand for the Nittany Lions'
White Out game vs. the Buckeyes. As he
took in all the sights and sounds of a
football weekend at Penn State, Strange
began to feel as though University Park
was where he belonged. By the time he
le0 town on Monday morning, he had
committed to the Nittany Lions.
A few days a0er announcing that he
had chosen Penn State, the four-star
tight end prospect took the time to
