Wimbush made the most of his opportunity and helped jump start the Irish to a quick 17‑0 lead over the Seminoles. Following an interception by se‑ nior defensive back Nick Coleman, Wimbush fired his first pass of the evening on a second‑and‑goal from the Florida State 3‑yard line, connect‑ ing with senior wide receiver Miles Boykin on a fade route for the first score of the game. Wimbush completed six of his first nine passes for 44 yards with two touchdowns. On Notre Dame's sec‑ ond drive, he went 5‑of‑8 passing for 41 yards, highlighted by a six‑yard score to senior tight end Alizé Mack at the very back of the end zone. The New Jersey product is now 4‑0 this season when starting and 13‑3 overall over the past two seasons. He also matched his career‑high with three touchdown passes, previously set versus Miami (Ohio) in 2017. "I'm not a selfish person. What‑ ever it took for me to benefit the team and help the team get us where we are today, that's what I wanted to do," Wimbush said after the game.
