42 ■ THE WOLFPACKER W H E R E AR E T H E Y N O W ? BY JACEY ZEMBAL J ulie Shea Sutton is used to be being on the run, but now that she's retired the former NC State superstar distance runner is living her best life at a slower pace. Shea and her husband of eight years, Bruce Sutton, have retired to the mountains in the western part of North Carolina, building a dream home the last three years. Shea's ties to NC State remain strong, and it wasn't just her who bled red and white. Her 95-year-old father, Mike Shea, was a teacher and track and field coach at NC State, while sister Mary Shea was also an All-American runner for the Wolfpack. They helped NC State win national cross country titles in 1979 and 1980. Julie and Mary used to run all over Raleigh from William Shea, a 2012 NC State Hall of Fame inductee, won seven national championships during her college career in track and cross country.
