22 ■ THE WOLFPACKER
TRACKING THE PACK
BRADLEY CHUBB

NC State had plenty of reasons to honor Bradley
Chubb and his No. 9 jersey, and his current success in
the NFL is just another bullet point on the growing list.
He had a school-record 26 sacks in his Wolfpack ca-
reer and last season won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy
as college
football's top defensive player. He also was
the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Yet, Chubb continues to impress well beyond his
college days. He had eight sacks through the first nine
games of the season for the Denver Broncos, tying
his teammate Von Miller with the most by a rookie at
that point in the season over the past 10 years. The
last newcomer to have more in nine games was Julius
Peppers, who had 10 in 2002.
Chubb was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of
the Month in October, and he has nine quarterback
takedowns in his first 11 professional games, which is
tied for 12th in the league as of Dec. 1.
His No. 9 was honored by NC State after the first
quarter of the Wake Forest game Nov. 8. He is just
the 11th player in school history to have his name
enshrined at Carter-Finley Stadium.
