84 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING In travel basketball last summer, Lecque averaged 14.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in 21 Nike Elite Youth League Basketball contests (10-11 record). He shot 43.6 percent from the field, 65.6 percent on free throws and 15.8 per- cent from three-point land with the New York Rens. The latter statistic will need to change in college, but current NC State point guards have proven to improve as jump shooters. The aforementioned Johnson went 12 of 48 on three-pointers for 25.0 percent his freshman year under the previous NCSU coaching staff. He shot 40.9 percent last year under Keatts and was at 50.0 percent through his first seven games this season. On a smaller scale, Harris went 0 of 7 on three-pointers during his abbreviated stint at Missouri, but is 3 of 8 from beyond the arc through the first seven games at NC State. "Jalen is a guy that is athletic and can get up and down," Keatts said. "He can get to the hole and get to the free throw line. As he becomes a better outside shooter, he'll be a hard matchup for anyone." Lecque originally was in the class of 2018, but graduated from Arden (N.C.) Christ School and elected to attend Brew- ster Academy as a post-graduate. That is how he'll be eligible for the NBA Draft next June, if he pursues that route. Lecque picked the Wolfpack over, among many others, Tennessee, Louisville, Oregon, Texas Christian, Texas Tech and UCLA.
