TAKING HIS PLACE AMONG THE GREATS On Dec. 4 in New York City, Michigan legend Charles Woodson officially took his place among the best players in the history of the game when he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The 1997 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time All-American became the 31st former Wolverine player to earn the honor and the first since running back Rob Lytle in 2015. Woodson, who now works as a commentator for ESPN, was originally told of his election last Janu- ary, when his network colleagues surprised him with the news live on an episode of Sunday NFL Countdown. "I want to say thank you to the National Foot- ball Foundation … thank you to the University of Michigan, all of my coaches, Lloyd Carr, all my teammates — we all going in together," he said at the time.
