F O O T B A L L Three-year stretch ranks among Penn State's best James Franklin couldn't pass up the chance. Penn State's senior class, which at the time was preparing for its final home game, had done so much already. With one last matchup against Maryland on tap be- fore those players bid farewell to Beaver Stadium, they provided Franklin with a perfect opportunity to reflect on what they had already accomplished. "You get to this point in the season and you start to say, I'd like to look back at some point at the end of the season and be able to look at what we've been able to do this year and then what we've really been able to do over the past five years," he said. "I've heard people say this before: If someone would have told you seven years ago that over these five years we would have done this, this, this and this, I think most people would have thought you were crazy." In their regular-season fi- nale, those seniors added to their collective resume. With their 38-3 rout of the Terra- pins, the Nittany Lions con- tinued what has been one of the most dominant, successful runs at Beaver Sta- dium in the program's history. Only twice – against Ohio State and Michigan State in back-to-back games earlier this season – has Penn State lost at home during the past three years. The victory over the Terps improved the Nit- tany Lions' home record 19-2 since the start of the 2016 season, a performance that in recent decades has been matched only by the 2005-07 teams, which compiled an identical three-year home record.
