30 MARCH 2019 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED 2019 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE end Howard] Cross. He can play. He can split the double team, get in there and rush the quarterback. "He's a quick twitch type of big guy. You don't always see that in big guys. I think he's like 6-foot-1 and 260 pounds now. He is going to keep getting better and really be a deter- mining factor for that defensive line. He could be a real big surprise." Farrell: "They're all ranked pretty good. Cam Hart [who was listed by Notre Dame as a wideout] is an ath- letic kid who can play a lot of differ- ent positions and I think he could probably outplay his ranking. "It just depends on what posi- tion he ends up playing and how he translates to that particular position." BGI: What is the strongest position group? Lemming: "Offensive line and it almost is every year, but the de- fensive line is very strong this year too. For the second year in a row, I thought the defense out-recruited the offense. That's great for Notre Dame because for a while it was the other way. It's good to see two straight years of good defenders going to Notre Dame. "Quinn Carroll was the best player in Minnesota the last two years. He can play tackle or guard, he's very athletic and super sound technically. Andrew Kristofic is a ball player that has a high ceiling. He's got good length, quick feet and plays in a re- ally good program there in the Pitts- burgh area. He's got a lot of upside to his ability. "John Olmstead is an aggressive and very physical ball player. He's definitely a tackle type guy that seems to get the job done. He can dominate, and he's dominated the competition these last two years. "Zeke Correll, he reminds me of Quenton Nelson. He's a big, physi- cal, powerhouse mauler. He's an excellent run blocker and he works really hard at improving his game. He's great in the weight room and he's built like Quenton was coming out of high school. If he can develop like Quenton did over his four years at Notre Dame, I think they've got themselves a real gem and a future All-American." Farrell: "It's offensive line to me, just over defensive line. I think they did really well. They got four very solid, very physical guys." BGI: What is the weakest position group? Lemming: "Without a doubt, wide receiver. They didn't add a tight end, but they aren't lacking depth there. Wide receiver was a disappointment. They needed more depth than just Kyren Williams at running back, too. Their receivers are okay guys. "They don't have an Alabama, Clemson or Ohio State type of re- ceiver coming in. That's the one position Notre Dame really needs to pick the pace up recruiting wise. They have guys that are okay. If they could land an elite receiver or two, that would be fantastic. Hopefully they can do that next year." Farrell: "They didn't get a pure running back, but I won't list a posi- tion where they didn't get anybody. They didn't get enough pure wide receivers in this class." BGI: What are your overall thoughts on safety signee Kyle Ham- ilton of Atlanta Marist? Lemming: "He has great range and confident. Kyle is also a Notre Dame type of kid if you meet with him in person. "He is going to really push the starters once he gets there and estab- lished at Notre Dame. He has that type of talent." Farrell: "A big, rangy kid with great instincts. He's a kid that we had ranked pretty low in the begin- ning and he just kept growing on us. I think if we'd had two more ranking cycles you're probably looking at a kid who's going to be a five-star. "It was one of those things where Rivals 1. Georgia 2. Alabama 3. LSU 4. Texas 5.
