does not have the top-rated recruiting
class in the Big Ten.
The Buckeyes, who were perennial re-
cruiting champions during Urban
Meyer's tenure as head coach, slipped a
bit following Meyer's de-
cision to step down a?er
the 2018 season. The
Buckeyes pulled in the
No. 21-ranked class in the
country this year, accord-
ing to Rivals.com, trailing
Michigan, Penn State and
Nebraska in the Big Ten.
The Buckeyes' 17-mem-
ber class was highlighted
by ;ve-star defensive end
Zach Harrison of Lewis
Center, Ohio. They also
signed 10 four-star play-
ers, a list headed by wide
receiver Garrett Wilson of
Austin, Texas, and o=en-
sive lineman Harry Miller
of Buford, Ga. But their
ranking fell when four-
star o=ensive lineman
Doug Nester decommit-
ted in February, choosing
Virginia Tech a?er also
weighing an o=er from Penn State.
The battle for the No. 1 spot in the Big
Ten came down to Michigan and Penn
State. On Feb. 6, the Wolverines signed
26 players, including Rivals' No. 1 safety,
Daxton Hill of Tulsa, Okla. Their other
;ve-star signee is defensive tackle
Christopher Hinton of Norcross, Ga., and
they also landed 13 four-star players, in-
cluding running back Zach Charbonnet
of Westlake Village, Calif., and defensive
tackle Mazi Smith of Kentwood, Mich.
The Lions challenged Michigan for the
No. 1 spot but they weren't able to
