APRIL 2019 THE WOLVERINE 51   FOOTBALL RECRUITING well with U-M tight end commit Nick Patterson. Staring quarterback Shea's younger brother is a four-star pros- pect, but he's a smaller, H-back type while Johnson is a pure Y tight end. Also High On The Board: — Newport Beach (Calif.) Corona Del Mar four-star Mark Redman — Grand Junction (Colo.) Central four-star Kole Taylor — Dallas Bishop Dunne three-star Elijah Yelverton — Dedham (Mass.) Noble and Gre- enough School three-star Cam Large OFFENSIVE TACKLE Phoenix Pinnacle Four-Star Tosh Baker Michigan does have a commitment in place from Baltimore St. Frances three-star offensive tackle Micah Mazzccua. However, he is probably not the No. 1 target on their board be- cause he is not really a true tackle. He is big enough at 6-5 and 330 pounds, but he plays guard in high school and could do the same in college. U-M is recruiting several very good, long, lean and athletic tackle prospects, and Baker — yet another Arizona product and a prep team- mate of JD Johnson — is perhaps atop the list. At 6-8 and 275 pounds, he is ex- actly what offensive line coach Ed Warinner wants. The No. 9 offensive tackle and No. 51 overall prospect nationally is as coveted by the U-M staff as anyone. Also High On The Board: — Christian Academy of Louisville (Ky.) four-star John Young — Cambridge (Mass.) Bucking- ham Browne & Nichols four-star Zak Zinter — Park Ridge (Ill.) Maine South four-star Peter Skoronski — Mars (Pa.) High four-star Michael Carmody — Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field four-star Noah Nelson — Centennial (Colo.) Eaglecrest three-star Reece Atteberry OFFENSIVE GUARD Oak Park (Mich.) High Five-Star Justin Rogers Rogers is one of the toughest pros- pects in the country to figure out for a lot of reasons. He thinks he is an offensive tackle, but at 6-4 and 314 pounds with an extremely wide and powerful base he looks like a pro- totypical guard. He also thinks he could play defensive tackle or line- backer at the next level. In terms of his recruitment, even he doesn't seem to know who he likes the most. Once upon a time he dropped a top 13 that didn't include Michigan or Michigan State, but he's been to Ann Arbor and East Lansing several times each since then. Rogers has visited just about every school in the country and they all want him. He is the No. 1 guard and No. 10 overall prospect nationally. Also High On The Board: — Broken Arrow (Okla.) High four-star Andrew Raym — Edwardsburg (Mich.) High three-star Josh Priebe DEFENSIVE TACKLE Carmel (Ind.) High Four-Star Cole Brevard There haven't been any new offers to speak of since defensive line coach Greg Mattison left for Ohio State and Shaun Nua was brought in to replace him. That seems to indicate that eval- uations are still being done at the position and that Nua is getting a feel for who is out there with interest in the Wolverines. With that said, Brevard is a big, talented kid from the Midwest and almost grabs this spot by default. At 6-4 and 280 pounds, he has a great build for the position and is ranked as the No. 14 defensive tackle and No. 203 overall prospect nationally because of it. He's nearing 20 offers with Clem- son, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin as some of his more noteworthy suitors. Also High On The Board: — Baltimore St. Frances three-star Jonathan Wallace STRONGSIDE DEFENSIVE END Damascus (Md.) High Five-Star Bryan Bresee As the No. 1 strongside defensive end and No. 6 overall prospect na- tionally, Bresee is the biggest pipe dream on this entire list. And he did include Michigan in his top group, which also included Alabama, Clem- son, Georgia, Ohio State and Penn State Nov. 30. Of that list, it's only natural to as- sume that Michigan is potentially chasing all of the schools given how each has performed in recent years. Still, U-M is in the mix and trying to beat out the elite of the elite for the 6-5, 280-pounder. Also High On The Board: — Cincinnati Princeton four-star Darrion Henry — Lake Forest (Ill.) High four-star Rylie Mills — Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon three-star Van Fillinger WEAKSIDE DEFENSIVE END Port Huron (Mich.) Northern Three-Star Braiden McGregor Like AJ Henning from the wide re- ceiver list above, Michigan likes Mc- Gregor at a position different from where he is listed by Rivals.com (out- side linebacker). At 6-6 and 250 pounds, he is a lean pass-rushing machine and just about every school is recruiting him as such. He has more than 30 offers now — including one from Alabama, which likes him at tight end. Regardless of where exactly he plays at the next level he looks like he is going to be a star. Michigan is recruiting him that way and has hosted him several times dating back more than a year and most recently Rivals.com ranks Oak Park (Mich.) High five- star Justin Rogers as the No. 1 offensive guard and No. 10 overall player in the class of 2020. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
