WOMEN'S GOLF Sophomore Ashley Kim shared Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors with Mary- land's Virunpat Olankitkunchai Feb. 20, after she posted three straight sub- par rounds and a 54-hole career-best 5-under-par 211 to tie for fifth at the Moon Golf Invitational Feb. 18-19 at Mel- bourne, Fla. … It marked her first career- top five finish … Michigan tied for 12th among 16 teams … At the Westbrook Spring Invitational Feb. 24-25 in Phoenix, the Wolverines finished seventh out of 16 teams behind junior Hannah Ghelfi's career-best tally of 1-under 215, which earned her a seventh-place finish … This was the program's second-lowest 54-hole total in its history … At the Ari- zona Wildcat Invitational March 11-12 in Tucson, Ariz., U-M finished 12th … Freshman Ashley Lau led the way for the Wolverines, tying for 33rd place with a 13-over 229. MEN'S GYMNASTICS (6-3-0 OVERALL, 2-1 BIG TEN) The Wolverines lost 424.050-411.200 at No. 1 Oklahoma Feb. 23 … The Soon- ers extended their win streak to 108 meets, the longest unbeaten stretch in any sport at the Division I level … Senior Emyre Cole won U-M's lone event title, notching a 14.80 on vault for his 13th career win in that event … U-M also had a trio of runner-up finishes in individual events, with sophomore Jacob Moore (floor, 14.65), senior Ryan Dunning (still rings, 14.55), and sophomore Cameron Bock (parallel bars,14.35) … Michigan also fell at No. 10 Iowa 408.250-408.000 March 3 … Moore posted a 15.300 to win the floor event, setting a school record and tying the best score in the NCAA this year in the process … Moore also won the all-around title … Brock won on both rings and parallel bars … Sophomore Anthony Tawfik earned his first win on high bar … At Penn State March 16, U-M defeated both No. 3 Il- linois and No. 6 Penn State … Brock won both the parallel bars and high bar titles, and senior Anthony McCallum won the vault. WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS (14-5-1 OVERALL, 9-0 BIG TEN) Freshman Natalie Wojcik received her fifth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor of the season March 12, which surpassed Minnesota's Lexy Ramler for the most by a rookie in conference his- tory … She also was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the eighth time this year, after tying for the win on balance beam (9.950) and floor exercise (9.950) against No. 1 Oklahoma, which captured the meet 198.200-197.425 … Senior Olivia Karas was named Co-Big Ten Gymnast of the Week March 5 after her performance at No. 5 Utah … She tied for first on bars (9.925) and beam (9.925), while also posting a 9.925 on floor against the Utes, which defeated U-M 197.975-197.350 … This was her first Gymnast of the Week award this season and sixth of her career. MEN'S LACROSSE (3-3 OVERALL, 0-0 BIG TEN) Freshman attacker Bryce Clay was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week March 5 after his three-goal, two-assist performance in U-M's 16-11 win over St. John's March 2 … The Wolverines fell 17-11 to defending national champion and No. 4-ranked Yale March 10 in At- lanta … Fifth-year senior goalie Tommy Heidt had 23 saves, the second-best single-game performance in program history … Senior midfielder Brent Nose- worthy became the program's all-time leader in goals (94) March 2, passing Ian King's previous record (93 from 2014- 17) in the win over St. John's. WOMEN'S LACROSSE (10-0 OVERALL, 1-0 BIG TEN) The Wolverines achieved the first dou- ble-digit win season in program history after defeating No. 19 Penn State 12-9 March 16 … Five of Michigan's first 10 victories came against ranked foes. Be- sides the Nittany Lions, U-M knocked off No. 25 Dartmouth (11-10 in double overtime), No. 14 Colorado (8-6), No. 9 Denver (12-10) and No. 25 Towson (12- 11) … Senior goalie Mira Shane earned back-to-back Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors Feb. 19 and 26. MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING (7-1 OVERALL, 4-1 BIG TEN) For the third straight season, U-M fin- ished second at the Big Ten Champion- ships, held Feb. 27-March 2 in Iowa City, Iowa … Junior Felix Auböck won the 1,650-yard freestyle for the third con- secutive year … Sophomore diver Ross Todd made the final on platform for the second year in a row and finished runner-up … Junior Miles Smachlo won the 100-yard butterfly … Junior Charlie Swanson captured the 400-yard individual medley for the third consecu- tive year … The Wolverines won the 200-yard medley relay … Eleven swim- mers and one diver qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will take place March 27-30 in Austin, Texas … The swimmers are senior Mokhtar Al- Yamani; juniors Auböck, Jeremy Babi- net, Tommy Cope, Jacob Montague, Smachlo and Swanson; sophomores Luiz Gustavo Borges and Ricardo Var- gas; and freshmen Patrick Callan and Will Chan … Todd finished fourth on platform (714.40) March 16 at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships to qual- ify him for the NCAA Championships. WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING (8-0 OVERALL, 5-0 BIG TEN) Michigan finished second — 85 points behind Indiana — at the Big Ten Cham- pionships Feb. 20-23 at Bloomington, Ind. … Senior Siobhán Haughey won the 100-yard freestyle for the first time in her career … Freshman Maggie Mac- Neil was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year after winning individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100- yard butter fly, along with finishing runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke … MacNeil became the first Wolverine to win the award since Justine Mueller did so in 2005 … U-M won the 200-, Freshman attacker Bryce Clay scored three goals and contributed two assists in Michigan's 16-11 win over St. John's en route to Big Ten Freshman of the Week hon- ors March 5.
