fan forum are a young man that was too kind for society to believe existed. What we have witnessed as Notre Dame fans, as well as Te'o fans, is a gross implication of where our society is headed. Manti Te'o was a victim because he was too nice. Some idiots picked out a public icon in the midst of a historic feat, and chose to take his innocence away. Let us not forget what this young man has done for the university. Te'o went outside the box, and put himself out in a world that was a far cry from his home in Hawaii. He trusted the University of Notre Dame, and he set out on a mission to become the foundation of Notre Dame's resurgence and legitimacy in college football. Te'o did not disappoint. Despite the outcome of the BCS National Championship, Te'o did things that Golden Domers have not seen since the likes of Ross Browner. This young man was the rock of our team. It is the From The WebSite The headlines and mocking that Notre Dame AllAmerican linebacker Manti Te'o received following Deadspin.com's report that the Sept. 12 death of his girlfriend never occurred because she never existed stirred debate about how he would be perceived in the NFL Draft. One reader noted how an ESPN survey revealed that in response to the question, "Would you want your team to draft Te'o?" 63 percent said no, mainly because he has lost "street cred." NDLax: On local sports talk radio in DC they asked the audience if they thought the Redskins should draft Manti with their late second-round pick. Every single caller said no. They wouldn't draft him until the third or fourth round — and the hosts agreed with them. daveymcnight: I would be cautious of taking him. Players in the clubhouse probably do not want him. jrgodlewsky: He would never make it past Bill Belichick in the first round, so there is no doubt in my mind he will go first round. NDQ: He's got plenty of film and the combine will be his fate. He'll be a top-10 pick. ND1023: As good as Manti is, I think he's worthy of a middle-to-late first-round pick. I don't think he'll be a star in the NFL, but a solid linebacker who plays for a while. Brenner_f: Arguably his biggest asset moving forward was/is his leadership abilities. … Unfortunately, he lost much of that mystique with this whole ordeal. I'm sure they have concerns at first with anybody letting him be the voice of a locker room with what they all know of him and been splattered throughout the media. IrishMike78: A radio talk show host in Pittsburgh actually was more in favor of LSU's Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu than Manti (Mathieu was suspended last year for repeatedly failing drug tests and subsequently arrested again even after his suspension). It was unbelievable. DuquesneDuke: NFL locker rooms have murderers and rapists in them and people think players won't want Manti around? Gimme a break. NDLax: You must see that locker rooms dominated by machismo and bravado ("murderers and rapists" aside) may not be the most welcoming environments to a kid whose naiveté and credulity have been laid bare in a bizarre dupe. … I'm sure GMs are going to take the temperature of current team leaders on their roster regarding Te'o. They'd be remiss not to do so.
