Irish top Louisville in five-overtime
thriller for a late-season recharge

n Feb. 9, the Notre
Dame men's basketball team was
one minute and a
couple made Louisville
free throws away from its
third loss at home and its
second defeat in a row,
which would have meant
losing more ground in a
hyper-competitive Big
East Conference. And
with ESPN's College
GameDay on campus
to broadcast from every
angle, the Fighting Irish
and No. 11 Cardinals
didn't do much to boost
ratings in what was a
snoozer for 39 minutes.
These two programs
have an uncanny ability
to make it interesting,
however, and the folks
that tuned out early or
