might be the nation's finest
Incoming freshmen Colin McGovern, left, and Hunter Bivin, right, are projected as interior linemen and
are part of a crew of "big uglies" that fill a dire need in the Notre Dame offense.

n 2006, Notre Dame
signed a six-man
offensive line that
recruiting analysts
projected as the nation's
best — and maybe even
the greatest in the program's history.
Five-star tackle Sam
Young edged out quarterback Tim Tebow as
the Gatorade Player of
the Year in talent-rich
Florida, while guards
Matt Carufel and Chris
Stewart were secondteam USA Today AllAmericans.
Also, tackle Bartley
Webb and center Dan
Wenger joined Young,
Carufel and Stewart
in the U.S. Army AllAmerican Bowl. Finally,
guard/center Eric Olsen
was named Gatorade
Player of the Year in
New York.
