hen the fax machine
went dormant, the
final letter of intent
arriving just before
noon on Feb. 6, Michigan celebrated for a brief moment,
head coach Brady Hoke meeting with the media to extol the
potential of the 27 prospects
that will wear the winged helmet in 2013 and beyond. And
then, in an instant, the Maize
and Blue turned their attention
to the 2014 recruiting class,
knowing their work in bringing U-M back to a championship level is far from complete.
Over the next 12 months,
the Wolverines must be more
selective than in the past two
years; after signing 52 prospects in 2012-13, Michigan will
be limited to 14-18 in 2014.
U-M has already promised
three of those spots, accepting
verbal commitments from linebacker Michael Ferns, quarterback Wilton Speight and,
most recently, defensive tackle
Bryan Mone, each addressing
a need at their respective position.
