women's basketball I think it is a great win, in terms of the NCAA Tournament, too, Barnes Arico said after the game. This is like a super-quality win. People dont come in here and win at Purdue. For us to be able to come in here and do that, especially after beating Illinois, and follow it up with this win, it says a lot about our program and where we are now. I think it is a great win; it is a quality win; it is an NCAA win for sure. Although doubt was starting to creep in after the midseason lull, the Wolverines have regained all their confidence and swagger. We have been on a little bit of a run, Barnes Arico said. It started with the Illinois game and then to get the win at Purdue, which hadnt been done in a long time. That was the most excited I have seen the locker room all year, and then to follow it up with a win over Michigan State. The amount of energy and excitement when I opened that locker room door, it was an outburst. Some of the seniors did some things that they normally cant do, because they had a refuse-to-lose attitude. They came out of their comfort zone a little bit. Now, Michigan is ready to make a final push into the postseason. Although a Big Ten regular-season title may be out of the question (Penn State holds a commanding lead over the conference with an 11-1 Big Ten record), remaining games versus Nebraska (Feb. 21), at Penn State (Feb. 24), versus Northwestern (Feb. 28) and at Ohio State (March 3) provide excellent opportunities for the Wolverines to build their tournament rsum. Womens Basketball Rewind: Jan.21-Feb. 18 Overall Record: 19-6, 8-4 Big Ten Record Dec. 21-Feb. 18: 4-4 overall, 4-4 Big Ten Best Win 67-56 at Purdue: The Wolverines 70-69 win over Michigan State is, without question, huge for this program. But their upset win over the Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind., is the type of win the NCAA Tournament selection committee will applaud. The Wolverines had not won at Purdue since 1998, and the Boilermakers are the highest-rated RPI team Michigan has beaten this year (No.12). Senior guard Kate Thompson led the way with a game-high 22 points, hitting six three-pointers, tying a program record set by Molly Murray in 1996. Through Feb.18, the two teams were tied for third place in the Big Ten standings. Worst Loss 82-67 at Minnesota: In the midst of a midseason slump, the Wolverines traveled to Minneapolis to take on the Golden Gophers Jan. 31. Minnesota (4-8 in Big Ten play) has a high-powered offense, scoring 71.3 points per game, but its defense is statistically one of the worst in the Big Ten (No.11 in scoring defense, 66.1 points per game). The Wolverines got off
