pitchers mound. Of the 18 players that will be populating the mound and the bullpen, 15 of them are sophomores or younger. There will, unfortunately, be some very real growing pains. Michigan welcomes seven freshmen to the mound, and they will be counted on to stabilize a rotation that yielded 536 hits and finished with a dreadful 4.70 ERA last season. Fortunately, this seven-man pitching group has a legitimate set of tools that, with time, can frustrate Big Ten hitters. Headlining the class is Cronenworth, a two-way standout. The St. Clair, Mich., native led his high school to a state championship in 2011, pitching a complete game threehitter en route to clinching the state championship. In his senior year, he went 101 and piled up 95 strikeouts. Cronenworth can throw in the upper 80s, and features a bending curveball that can keep hitters offbalance. When hes not starting, hell be expected to patrol second base, where he displays a strong arm and quick movement with his feet and glove. Theres talent for sure, Bakich said. But were a very young team. There are going to be some growing pains for us, and there will be a figuring it out period. Hopefully by April or May, they wont feel like freshmen anymore. Were excited about the future with these guys. Speed on the base paths, sound defense, and timely hitting will formulate the makeup of a team searching for its identity in the beginning of the Bakich era. M ichigan c ool W orks c ooler UE ck M -BL 425 ize Blo #1 a Item with M Blue LD k M c -GO 425 lue Blo #1 em with B It e iz Ma $59 plu .95 s S& HardsidesmadeofHighDensity H Polyethylene(HDPE)ahighlydurable plasticwhichisstrongerandwillwithstand temperaturesthatotherplasticscannot Expandedpolystyreneinsulatingcore HDPEmedical-gradelinerFDAapprovedmaterialfor directfoodcontact 13.9widex13.75depthx8tall-5lbs.empty Twostoragecompartmentsforwet&dry storage:6.5quartsand3.5quarts Holds12x12oz.cancapacity Built-inhandlerotatesandlocksforcarrying Wrappedwith3MfullvinylMichigandecal Thiscoolerisaneco-friendlyproduct. Availableintwocolorstyles Great for Tailgating!
