That program will be back, and we will make sure of that as a group, from the Dekers Club to the people at that school. You dont appreciate the highs when you dont have lows. It starts with Berenson, he said. Theres no better person in the world in getting you to reach within and believe in yourself, Turco continued. When he retires someday, hell be just like Bo Schembechler was to Michigan football. Hes an amazing person, and I wish I was around more to be with him. Now that Im retired, the best part is a couple times I can go back I can plan for it, not worry about training for anything else. Professional Accomplishments: Starting goaltender for the NHLs Dallas Stars, 2000-10 Winningest goalie in franchise history Set an NHL record with a 1.72 goals-against average in 2002-03, his first year as a starter Played in the NHL All-Star game and was named to the Second All-Star Team following the season, finishing second in Vezina Trophy voting as well (behind New Jerseys Martin Brodeur) His .932 save percentage was also best in the NHL that year Won a career-best 41 games in 2005-06, eight of them in shootouts Tied record for most shutouts in a playoff series (three, 2007, against Vancouver) Holds all of the Stars major goaltending records Spent one season with Chicago and part of last year with the Boston Bruins after playing most of the year with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. Current Occupation: Television analyst for the Dallas Stars, handling pregame, intermissions and postgame. Education: Majored in physical education in the Department of Kinesiology at U-M.
