With teammates Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups sidelined with injuries in early February, Crawford put on his game face otherwise known as a protective mask over his broken nose, an injury suffered in a 98-73 loss at Toronto Feb. 1, and played well in losses at Boston and Washington in the next two games. Crawford posted 23 points and six assists in a 106-104 loss at Boston Feb. 3, and added 28 points in a 98-90 defeat at Washington the following night. In hindsight, Crawford told the Los Angeles Times, he probably should have rested, adding he was playing through an injured shoulder, as well. He did take one game off, but returned to the lineup Feb. 8. If you dont have that camaraderie and that family atmosphere, guys are like, Well, Im out, too. Im hurt, Crawford said. But with this team, youd do anything for them. And were all like that. Its not just me. Crawford ditched the mask only minutes into its first use, calling it the best defender hed seen all year and adding he couldnt see his feet.
