������ michigan recruiting Wolverines Strong At Home And In Ohio S ince Brady Hoke arrived in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines��� coaching staff has focused on locking down the home state of Michigan, moving into Ohio, then branching into the Midwest before going national. That trend held true once more in 2013. Michigan signed eight prospects from the Great Lakes State, including six of the top 10 in-state prospects. Nine signees came from Ohio, including three of the top 10 and five of the top 15. U-M also landed three Illinois prospects, two of them in the top 10 for that state, and Pennsylvania���s No.��5 prospect (No. 3 in Western Pennsylvania) Patrick Kugler to go along with Indiana���s No. 11 recruit, offensive lineman Dan Samuelson. That���s where the national focus began to kick in. In addition to those Midwest standouts, Michigan lured the top player from Colorado (offensive lineman Chris Fox), the top player from Virginia (running back Derrick Green), the No. 2 player in Massachusetts (defensive tackle Maurice Hurst), the No. 4 player in Maryland (defensive tackle Henry Poggi), and the No.�� 10 prospect out of North Carolina (cornerback Channing Stribling). While the focus is certainly in-state and in-region, Michigan pulled some exceptional players from other areas of the country, as well. What���s more surprising for Michigan is where the Wolverines didn���t have success recruiting.
