from our readers sive line. Fitz [Fitzgerald Toussaint] may not be the best back in the world, but there were no holes to go through to get into the secondary that I can remember. What I do recall is U-M having unusual trouble scoring in the red zone. And what about next years offensive line? Will it be, in my judgment, offensive again? Stuart Weiss Via the Internet Stuart, Brady Hoke himself admitted toward the end of the season that the offensive line hadnt progressed like hed hoped. Toussaint was, of course, a good enough back to be a 1,000-yard rusher a year earlier, but got off to a bad start in the 2012 season and never seemed to find his stride in part because of a lack of running room. The offensive line will again be a focus in 2013. Taylor Lewan deciding to come back provides a major boost, with Lewan and fellow fifth-year senior Michael Schofield returning to give the Wolverines veterans at the tackle spots. U-M will be inexperienced up the middle, but theres plenty of talent there to fill in and grow together. How quickly they do so will have plenty to say about the way the 2013 season plays out. Be Heard! Send your letters to: Wolverine Letters P.O. That [Mark] Dantonio will be squeezed not just by Hoke & Co., but by Ohio and Notre Dame. That the hope Dantonio can recruit three-star players, classes hovering around 30th-35th nationally and prevail is unrealistic. Those amount to checkmate, in my opinion. For basketball, I think MSU may hold the checkmate card, and its not [Tom] Izzo, specifically. They play physical BB in a conference that allows it. Michigan will recruit talent, but without physical back-to-thebasket types, without that grittiness, I cant see how our program can ever be dominant in the B1G. Talented, sure. Huge factor? Sure. Dominant? Doubt this is possible without low-post scoring and gritty D added to our mix. And were not pursuing players that will bring us those qualities. Blue_Note
