WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Most Improved Player
DD Rogers began her senior season at
NC State in November with modest stats
for her first three years in Raleigh, mostly a
product of playing behind All-ACC stand-
outs Chelsea Nelson and Akela Maize.
Earning the starting nod in every game
this season, the 6-1 Charlotte native made
the most of the opportunity, setting career
highs in nearly every category, including
single-game points (21 against Miami) and
rebounds (20 against Georgetown), with
six double-doubles.
Her 6.9 points per game for the season
more than doubled her average over her
first three years, as did her 7.9 rebounds a
contest that led the Pack this season.
Best Streak
NC State's 21 consecutive wins to start the
2018-19 season are the most in the 45-year
history of Wolfpack women's basketball and
the longest victorious streak in a season.
The previous best start was a 14 straight
to begin the 1999-2000 season, while the
previous mark for most consecutive wins
was 15 in 1984-85.
North Carolina ended the Pack's record 21-
game string Feb. 3 with a 64-51 upset in Ra-
leigh. The Pack avenged that stinging defeat
with a 74-69 win in Chapel Hill Feb. 24. ■
Senior forward DD Rogers went from 11.6
minutes, 2.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per
game last year to 26.8, 6.9 and 7.9, respec-
tively, in her final campaign.
