MAY 2019 ■ 69 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Tournament, and by early April had set up his official visit to NC State. Rising junior guard Braxton Beverly was his host. "I put my name in the portal and then went right to class," Andree said. "When I checked my phone during class, I had four missed calls within an hour. That whole day I heard from about 40-50 schools. "NC State was adamant about getting me on campus first, and they did that. They made me feel that I was a high priority." Roberson reached out right after NC State played an NIT game, and following the loss to Lipscomb March 27 the Wolf- pack coaches flew out for an in-home visit. One of the driving forces for Andree was playing in the ACC. "I think the ACC is a very good fit for me," he said. "I have dreamed of playing in the ACC and never really had the opportu- nity. It was a personal goal for me. "Being a New Jersey guy, you can't beat the Atlantic Coast Conference." The chance to see the campus and facili- ties allowed Andree to learn more about the Wolfpack program. "I'm very excited to play for NC State, a team with that much tradition and that much culture," Andree said. "They care about winning. They also care not just about basketball, but about off the court." Andree wanted to find a close team that was focused on being successful, and he saw that during his official visit to NC State. "It's a team that wants to win and that is the most important thing for me," he said. "I want to play a role on a winning team. "If that means I come in and start and do that role or I come in off the bench and as- sume that role, it doesn't matter." Andree's ability to drain three-pointers will be a crucial part of NC State's attack. He made 41.9 percent (70 of 167) of his long-range attempts last season and shot 41.5 percent (189 of 455) for his Lehigh career. "I know they are recruiting me as a shooter," Andree said. "It's what I do best. I've always been a shooter, and I have al- ways shot it well. "I can read the defense well with what's going on. I've been told that I have a very high basketball IQ. I can read different situ- ations. I'm probably not the most athletic or quickest on the court, but I think I have a very good basketball mind." Andree hasn't settled on what he'd like to major in at NC State for his master's degree, but he appreciates the opportunity he's been given. "I'm just really excited with everything NC State has and being with the coaches," he said.
