Notable: The Wolverines fell 13-7 to No. 3 UCLA in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament … Michi- gan finished the season ranked No. 6, marking the fourth straight season it ended the year in the top 10 … This was the first time in program history that the Wolverines made four straight NCAA Tournaments … Against 14 top-10 teams, Michi- gan went 6-8 this season … In five seasons under head coach Dr. Mar- celo Leonardi, U-M has gone 36-2 in CWPA play. ❏ Baseball (41-18 overall, 16-7 Big Ten) Michigan received a No. 3 seed in the Corvallis (Ore.) Re- gional of the NCAA Tournament, which started May 31 … Junior outfielder Jordan Brewer was named Big Ten Baseball Player of the Year, becoming the fifth player in program history to earn the award … In the regular season, Brewer ranked first in the Big Ten in batting average (.358); second in slugging percentage (.637), stolen bases (19), hits (69) and RBI (52); and third in runs scored (51) and doubles (18) … Brewer was named first-team All-Big Ten along with sopho- more pitcher Jeff Criswell and sophomore designated hitter Jordan Nwogu … Sophomore shortstop Jack Blomgren was named to the second team, while sophomore catcher Joe Donovan, senior first baseman Jimmy Kerr, sophomore outfielder Jesse Franklin and junior pitcher Karl Kauffmann were named to the third team … Pitcher Willie Weiss was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team … The Wolverines finished second in the conference regular season, but lost 7-3 to Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Rowing U-M captured its sixth league title in program history, win- ning four out of seven races at the Big Ten Championships … The Wolverines' 186 points were the second most in Big Ten Championships history … Michigan, ranked fifth nation- ally, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, which began May 31 … Seniors Victoria Glunt, Kathryn Grotto and Caroline Hendershot all were first-team All-Big Ten, while juniors Tayla-May Bentley and Madison Byrd were second-team all-conference… Hendershot was named Ath- lete of the Championships … Head coach Mark Rothstein was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career … Freshman Jessica Schoonbee earned Big Ten Row- ing Freshman of the Year honors. Men's Track And Field Senior Taylor McLaughlin and junior Roland Amarteifio both qualified in the 400-meter hurdles for the NCAA Out- door Championships, June 5-8 in Austin, Texas … This is McLaughlin's fourth straight berth in the national meet … U-M's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Desmond Melson, freshman Ian Davis, junior Alex Schwedt and sophomore Vail Hartman also qualified for the NCAA Championships … In addition, senior Andrew Liskowitz and fifth-year senior Joe Ellis qualified in the shot put and the hammer throw, respec- tively, while fifth-year senior Jack Lint earned a berth in the decathlon … U-M finished sixth with 54.5 points at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 10-12 in Iowa City, Iowa. Women's Track And Field Sixth-year senior Erin Finn earned a berth to the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 5-8 in Austin, Texas … She was the only Wolverine to qualify … U-M finished 11th with 31 points at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 10-12 in Iowa City, Iowa. — Andrew Hussey Junior Maddy Steere was named Collegiate Water Polo Association Player of the Year after she finished second on the team with 42 assists and 97 points.
