2013 football recruiting issue ners, the coach said. I know people on the outside are concerned about rankings and stars. Dont get me wrong, those kind of things matter to everybody on our staff, too, but I really like recruiting winners, guys that know how to win and have championship rings. We were able to do that. We have 24 kids that were in the playoffs and six in state championships. We had 12 that were all-state performers, six that were in the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl and 17 that were in all-star games. Those are guys that are not only very good football players, but they are competitors on teams that win games, and when youre trying to become a championship team like we are, to have guys that have already done that is very important. Another major focus in States new plan of attack on the recruiting trail is getting ev- ery coach involved in the recruiting process on every prospect. When we do the recruiting, theyll meet everybody and everybody will be a part of it. I think thats important because we do look at our football team as a family, and for them to choose this family, theyve got to meet a lot of people in it. NC State fans may not be used to football eren said. I like to add guys up to Signing Day, if thats what it takes. Well have as many of them locked up as soon as we can, but at the same time, if a kid wants to go to Signing Day and we want to go to Signing Day with that kid, thats what well do. Were going to fight to the end on every kid we want. March 2013 33 32-33.Doeren Recruiting Approach.indd 33 2/26/13 1:17 PM
