TOP FIVE GOALS IN 2019 1. BEAT OHIO STATE AND WIN THE BIG TEN Most Michigan fans know it's been 15 years (2004) since the Wolverines last won a Big Ten title. The Wolverines have been in position twice in four years under head coach Jim Harbaugh, got robbed once by bad breaks (and a bad spot) in Columbus in 2016 and shared the division crown with Ohio State last year. U-M lost its Big Ten Championship game bid with a 62-39 loss in Columbus. This needs to be the year the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes. Michigan returns a veteran line and an outstanding quarterback room (which is key — past seasons have been sabo- taged by injuries at the position, but now there's depth). They get Ohio State and Michigan State at home, and the most daunting road trips are against teams with major question marks in Wisconsin and Penn State. Urban Meyer is gone, and while OSU returns plenty of talent, Michigan should be favored in The Game. It's past time to win it. 52 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2019 FOOTBALL PREVIEW Michigan won 10 straight games last year but fell short of its goals with an- other loss to Ohio State in Columbus. The Wolverines did capture a share of the Big Ten East crown, however — not the ultimate goal, but a program first — and look to build on that this season. Here are the top objectives they should pursue for the 2019 campaign: PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN 2019 SEASON PREVIEW
