LAYING THE FOUNDATION PSU adds a linebacker and athlete to its growing Class of 2014 RYA N   S N Y D E R Members of the Penn State coaching staff have made it clear to recruits that they'd like to earn a set of verbal commitments before the end of April. Following the Nittany Lions' first junior day on Feb. 23, the staff received two additions to its Class of 2014. Troy Reeder from Wilmington, Del., was the No. 1 linebacker on the staff's board for this recruiting cycle. With so few scholarships available at Penn State, Reeder M A R C H | BLUE WHITE ILLUSTRATED decided to forgo visiting such programs as Boston College, Maryland, Miami, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Virginia this spring and chose the Nittany Lions. Linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden, who was Reeder's lead recruiter, has built a strong relationship with the 6-foot-3, 232-pounder. Reeder said building a relationship with his future position coach helped him decide on a school early in the process. 6 , 2 0 1 3 1 "Being my recruiter and my position coach, it meant a lot," Reeder said. "He was the guy always coming to school. He was the guy that I always contacted. Building that relationship with him really made me feel comfortable." At Salesianum School, Reeder was a decorated two-sport athlete. In football, he earned a spot on the Delaware firstteam All-Catholic Conference team at linebacker following his sophomore and B L U E W H I T E O N L I N E . C O M
