NUMBERS GAME With the selection of
Oruwariye and Scott in the 2019 dra?,
the Nittany Lions have now had seven
defensive
backs cho-
sen since the start of
the Franklin era. In
addition to their
most recent defen-
sive back dra?ees,
the Lions have sent
Adrian Amos, Jordan
Lucas, Troy Apke,
Marcus Allen and
Christian Campbell
into the NFL since
2015. No position
group at Penn State
has produced more
dra?ees during that
span than the sec-
ondary. The closest
group is the defen-
sive line, which has
had four dra?ees
under Franklin
(Austin Johnson,
Carl Nassib, An-
thony Zettel, Shareef
Miller).
OUTLOOK A year
ago, Penn State to a slow start last
year as he worked his way back from the
knee injury that forced him to sit out the
entire 2017 season, but by the end of the
year he looked more like his former self
and ended up winning honorable men-
tion All-Big Ten recognition.
As
for the two
vacancies, the
Lions have an ex-
perienced corner-
back ready to step
in for Oruwariye,
with Castro-
Fields having
been groomed for
the spot since his
true freshman
year. And at free
safety, Wade ap-
pears to have po-
sitioned himself
for a starting role.
He played in 25
games during his
