"This will be a class, because of the talent that's in it, that will have a chance to get on the field." Head coach Mike London defensive tackle Tyrell Chavis of Fork Union via Richmond add some strength up the middle. Chavis is listed at 6-3 and 290 pounds, while Wilkins is 6-2 and 305. "Wilkins is a young man that was the player of the year in his region on offense and defense. That's a pretty significant accomplishment for him," London said. "John Shuman has told us Chavis is the best defensive lineman he's ever 247Sports lists Richmond (Va.) Varina standout Tim Harris as a four-star recruit, the No. 8 player in Virginia, the No. 16 cornerback in the country and the No. 141 overall prospect in the class of 2013. Smith, Bradshaw, former Temple commit Connor Wingo-Reeves of Midlothian (Va.) Monacan, and Micah Kiser of Baltimore Gilman School give new defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta four linebackers to work with. Four-star defensive backs Harris and Kirk Garner of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel both were ranked among the top 30 cornerbacks in the country. Harris checked in at No. 14, and Garner was No. 29. The trio of Harris, Garner and Cook should form a dynamic secondary in the future. "I think when you look at Malcolm Cook and Kirk Garner and you look at Tim Harris, their defensive back size is impressive," London said. "Specifically, you look at what Malcolm did at his career at Fork Union — I think he had nine interceptions and returned six of them for touchdowns." Virginia will have a young football team with London's third full recruiting class. Adjusting to Tenuta and new offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild's schemes will be important to the transition. "I think what's key is getting the talented players," London said. "We filled in the need for depth. Obviously if they can play, you want to be able to play them. We've gone through two seasons of having to play young players, and you hope you get to the point where eventually they can sit. "This will be a class, because of the talent that's in it, that will have a chance to get on the field." ◆
