comfortable, it���s easier to sacrifice a little extra cash for a job you enjoy. ���Coaches are beginning to realize more than ever that the grass isn���t always greener somewhere else,��� Roussel said. ���With the hours and the stress that is involved in the profession, if you can buy yourself years where you���re program to new heights. All the while, the carrot of a national championship dangled just out of reach. Their success, and the tease of title hopes, helped keep coordinators from taking lowerlevel head coaching jobs elsewhere. The same effect appears to be playing out at Notre Dame. a breakout season in the BCS National Championship Game against Alabama. Coordinators are keystones for other position coaches. Most new hires at the coordinator level today bring along at least one or two other assistants to help implement their system. Diaco told reporters that one of his main motives to stay at Notre Dame was the chance to finish trenched at Notre Dame, the rest of the staff followed suit. Notre Dame and its 17 other consistent compatriots aren���t out of the woods. The musical chairs search for vacant seats on Division I coaching staffs hasn���t come to a close even though spring practices are underway throughout the country. Roussel said more than 30 coaches changed jobs after March 1 last year. For now, though, the Irish appear to be safe. They will begin their spring practices with the same group as a year ago. Enjoy it while it lasts. ���
