fan forum A Deans List Man While reading through Blue & Gold Illustrateds January edition, my heart sank when I came across the article on Dean Browns untimely passing. I had the pleasure of getting to know Dean as he and I worked together at Friendship Collegiate Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. I wish I could aptly describe his reaction, especially the look he gave me, and how big his eyes got, when I recalled his number (71). We spent a great deal of time getting to know one another and talking about Notre Dame football. His office was lined with Notre Dame mementos, including a giant picture of a Sports Illustrated photo in which he was blocking for Tony Rice and, of course, a Play Like A Champion Today towel. I had the pleasure of introducing Dean to my dad (who played football at Notre Dame in 1962-63) and two younger brothers at the 2011 Notre Dame-Maryland game at FedEx Field. I also had the pleasure of meeting his ex- tended family, including his daughters whom he was extremely proud of. Dean Brown was an outstanding man. He cared deeply about his family, and I could never wrestle him away from his family on Saturdays to join us for a Notre Dame game. He was passionate about the work he did developing character for the inner city youth we worked with and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was an anchor of that 1988 team and will be truly missed. I feel privileged to have known and worked with Dean and feel honored to share my condolences with his family and the readers of BGI. Tim Kennedy Alexandria, Va. be heard! Its Tommy Rees, then Andrew Hendrix again. And please dont play the Malik Zaire card. That would be foolish. Tommyd44: I know Tommy Rees cannot run the full breadth of the Brian Kelly offense but what does the dude need to do to get some respect? He is a gamer who can run a solid enough offense to keep us in a game with the great defense we have. To being benched for a rookie, to then being called upon when Golson didnt have it in high pressure situations, to then going back to sitting on the bench Tommy Rees should have earned a ton of respect from a national fan base. If he is needed, he will answer the bell to the best of his ability. Give the man the credit he is due!!!
