necessarily the guys with the letters on their sweaters but other guys as well. You have to lead by example and make sure the intensity is up.��� The Nittany Lions had a young team this year, with 10 freshmen and five sophomores on their roster. The freshman class played a big role in Penn State���s success, contributing just over two-thirds of the team���s goals. The incoming freshman class is expected to have an impact as well. One of the team���s key newcomers is Eamon McAdam, a lefty goaltender from Perkasie, Pa., who is expected to challenge Matthew Skoff and PJ Musico. ���He is a great goaltender and deserves all of the hype that he���s getting,��� Skoff said. ���I think all three of us will better just because he is coming in.��� The program will be making a big step forward next season, and Gadowsky is hoping to use its inaugural season as a stepping stone to bigger things. ���We are certainly going to miss this team, but we are exited about the future,��� he said. ���Not only the league we are playing in, but the building we are playing in and where we are going.��� Patrick Mansell Women���s hockey falls in tourney Penn State ended its debut season with a 3-2 loss to third-seeded RIT on March 2 at Ritter Arena in Rochester, N.Y. RIT won the College Hockey America first-round series, 2-0. Both games were decided by one goal. Penn State, which finished the season with a 7-26-2 record, received goals from Taylor Gross and Hannah Hoenshell, while goaltender Nicole Paniccia made 56 saves. For her effort, Paniccia was recognized as the game���s No. 1 star. RIT���s Kim Schlattman ended the game 47 seconds into overtime with a bullet from the top of the slot that got past Paniccia. In three overtime games this season, Penn State went 0-1-2. The Tigers dominated the season series against the Lions, going 5-0-1. Emily Laurenzi was fantastic in the faceoff circle, winning 13 of 17 faceoffs, the only Nittany Lion to have a positive record. In fact, Laurenzi won 13 of Penn State's 21 faceoffs, as RIT held a 45-21 margin. The Tigers moved on to face second-seeded Syracuse in the CHA semifinals in Erie, Pa. Penn State was led this season by freshman forward Shannon Yoxheimer. The Michigan native had a team-high 14 goals, 17 assists and 31 points and was named to the AllCHA Rookie Team. The Lions graduate only one senior and are expected to welcome a strong class of newcomers next fall. They will play their first games in the Pegula Ice Arena in October.
