SEPTEMBER 2019 THE WOLVERINE 15   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Women's cross country rising-redshirt sophomore Camille Davre burst onto the scene last year for the Wolverines after redshirting as a freshman in 2017. The highlights of her 2018 campaign came when she earned All-America honors by running 20:28.84 over six kilometers (3.73 miles) to finish 29th at the NCAA Championships Nov. 17 and when she was named All-Region by clocking a 20:53.30 over the aforemen- tioned distance to come in 14th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Nov. 9. Davre will look to continue her up- ward trajectory heading into a 2019 season that kicks off Aug. 30 in Dexter, Mich., with the Michigan Open. Here a few more interesting facts you may not have known about her: Nickname: "I'm half French and I sometimes shorten my name to just Cami, which can cause people to think my name is Cammie. It's not really a nickname, but people will call me it just to irritate me — I laugh it off though." Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: "I like the classic Cottage Inn sit-down place, because I go there a lot with my dad." Best meal she can cook by herself: "I'm really good at cooking ratatouille. It's easy and kind of takes me back to my roots." Hobbies: "I play guitar and sing in my spare time." Favorite TV show: "I like 'New Girl' a lot when I just want to watch something mindless and short." Favorite movie: "No one will know what it is, but I like 'Austin to Boston.' It's a documentary about bands who go on tour together and play some of my favorite music. I also like 'Pulp Fiction,' but that's kind of weird too — it's a work of art." Dream vacation: "I really want to go to Italy and just sit down in an Italian pizzeria — that's my dream." Favorite place she's been to: "I love France, because I get to visit my family when I go there. I also love the moun- tains, and one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to was Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada." Favorite professional athlete: "I re- ally like [American middle-distance run- ners] Emma Coburn and Shelby Hou- lihan." Role model: "Both of my parents are huge role models to me, because they were each competitive athletes. They both speed skated, and my mom was actually in the 1992-94 Olympics." Sports she plays besides cross coun- try: "I used to play a lot of soccer and would bike whenever I could, but I mostly just run now." Why she chose Michigan: "I wanted to excel in both academics and sports, and to be a part of a great team with people aspiring to do the same things. I also wanted to be in a big college town, and Ann Arbor is a great place for that." What she hopes to do after cross country: "I'd like to be a sports psychologist someday. This next one is kind of a dream of mine, but I'd also love to own my own coffee shop and make scones. It'd be in Colorado or in a mountainous region, and would just kind of be a laidback life." Her overall experience at Michigan: "It has been chal- lenging so far, but it's also taught me so many lessons and has allowed me to meet some great people along the way. I'm excited for the future and am grateful for all the experi- ences I've had up to this point." — Austin Fox Davre earned All-America accolades with a 29th-place finish at the NCAA Championships last year. Perhaps one of the most encouraging developments was that Michigan's of- fensive line was its most lauded group. On Lindy's top two All-America squads, the Wolverines were the only team in the country to boast multiple offensive linemen, with fifth-year senior left tackle Jon Runyan Jr. earning a first-team nod and senior left guard Ben Bredeson being awarded second-team honors. Bredeson was actually the most decorated Wolverine this preseason, earning first-team laurels from Phil Steele's College Football Preview, second-team plau- dits from Sporting News and Athlon, in addition to Lindy's, and a third-team nod from CollegeFootballNews.com. Runyan was also given awarded a spot on Steele's All-America fourth team. Here's how the Wolverines stacked up on the preseason All-America lists, with a few notable ones still to come: MICHIGAN PLAYERS ON PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA LISTS Sr. OG Ben Bredeson Phil Steele — first team Sporting News — second team Athlon — second team Lindy's — second team CollegeFootballNews.com — third team Sr. CB Lavert Hill Sporting News — second team Athlon — second team Phil Steele — third team 5th-Sr. OT Jon Runyan Jr. Lindy's — first team Phil Steele — fourth team
