32 SEPT. 23, 2019 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED BY ANDREW MENTOCK S ince Kirby Smart became the head football coach at Geor- gia, the program has been one of the leading destinations for the nation's top recruits. According to Rivals, the Bulldogs' last three re- cruiting hauls ranked No. 3 (2017), No. 1 (2018) and No. 1 (2019). In previous head coach Mark Richt's 16 seasons at Georgia, he fin- ished with a top-three class just once. Smart's recruiting success came without the top-notch facilities that many of the other Southeastern Con- ference programs possess. But that has begun to change. Over the past few years, the Uni- versity of Georgia has committed hundreds of millions of dollars to new locker rooms, an outdoor prac- tice facility — projects that have already been completed — and a significant expansion to the current football facility. Anthony Dasher, the managing editor at UGASports.com, said there is no question that Georgia's contin- ued push to upgrade its football fa- cilities should increase the program's ability to attract top recruits. This is a scary thought for the rest of the Game of the Year?
