School Commits RECRUITING NOTES • Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 2021 center and Notre Dame commit Greg Crippen took an unofficial visit to Michigan Aug. 31 when the Wolver- ines hosted Middle Tennessee State. His recruitment appears to be trending towards a mutual separation between him and the Irish coaching staff. Crippen last visited Notre Dame in June and worked out for the coaching staff at a prospect camp, but communication between him and the school has cooled off considerably. Rivals ranks Crippen as the No. 11 prospect in Florida, and the No. 5 offensive guard and No. 118 overall player in the country. • Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian School defensive back Collin Gamble was expected to officially visit Notre Dame when the Irish host Virginia Sept. 28. However, he is not expected to take that trip now because he is likely to commit to Cal in the near future. Gamble officially visited Cal Aug. 30 and came away as a very strong lean to the Bears. Rivals ranks Gamble as the No. 79 recruit in Texas and the No. 51 cornerback nationally. • It is shaping up for Notre Dame to have a monstrous recruiting weekend Oct. 12 when USC comes to town. Three class of 2020 Irish commitments have already set official visits for that weekend — Drew Pyne of New Canaan (Conn.) High, the No. 5 quarterback and No. 100 overall recruit in the nation per Rivals; Michael Mayer of Alexandria (Ky.) Covington Catholic, the No. 3 tight end and No. 58 overall recruit; and Alexander Ehrensberger of Dussel- dorf (Germany) Fryeburg Academy, a three-star defensive end. Several notable 2021 targets are expected to be on hand that weekend — Will Shipley of Matthews (N.C) Weddington, the nation's No. 1 all-purpose back and No. 53 overall recruit per Rivals; Deion Colzie of Athens (Ga.) Acad- emy, the No. 6 athlete and No. 95 overall prospect nationally; and Lorenzo Styles Jr. of Pickerington (Ohio) Central, the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 28 overall player in the land. • The lone remaining offensive line target for the Fighting Irish in the 2020 class is Littleton (Colo.) Columbine offensive tackle Andrew Gentry, who last visited Notre Dame in the spring. Gentry told Blue & Gold Illustrated that the "option is still there" for him to pick Notre Dame, but his communication with the Irish staff has not been consistent. Gentry, the nation's No. 9 offensive tackle and No. 59 overall player according to Rivals, is expected to end up at either BYU, Colorado or Michigan. — Mike Singer Follow @BGI_MikeSinger on Twitter for daily recruiting updates! Athens (Ga.) Academy wide receiver Deion Colzie — Rivals' No. 6 athlete and No. 95 overall player in the country — is expected to be in South Bend Oct. 12 to take in the Notre Dame-USC game.
