DECEMBER 2019 27 Foundry Golf Tournament 2019 VAF hosted its 15th annual Foundry Golf Tour- nament on October 7, 2019, at the Foundry Golf Club in Richmond. Each year the tourna- ment benefits UVA men's and women's golf programs due to the efforts by Coley Wortham and Bob Mizell who help recruit Richmond area participants and sponsors. The tournament opened with lunch followed by the introduction of men's golf head coach Bowen Sargent, women's golf head coach Ria Scott and members of the UVA golf teams. Stu - dent-athletes were paired with each foursome in a scramble format. Participants enjoyed a beautiful fall day and a post tournament awards reception. Congratulations to the proximity winners, raffle prize winners and the overall winning team "Keiter CPAs" which included Mike Gracik, Whit Baldwin, Ricky Core, Andrew Crowley and women's golf student-athlete, Riley Smyth. Thank you to everyone for their participation and support of the Virginia Golf programs. Throughout the weekend of October 18-19, the men's soccer program celebrated the historic success of Virginia Men's Soccer. The weekend brought back soccer alumni from across the country as we celebrated the '91 through '94 and the 2009 National Champion - ship teams. The four consecutive titles remain an NCAA record with no other team winning even three in a row, until the Stanford Cardi- nal's run in 2017. The 2009 National Championship team brought back the first title to Virginia since '94. Virginia has made the College Cup tourna- ment for a record 38 years, the most of any team in the history of the sport. The Saturday morning alumni game was quite competitive. What else would you expect from a program of such extraordinary success? While we celebrated five historic National Championship anniversaries, this was truly a weekend to honor every Virginia Men's Soccer player, coach and support staff member. Both men's and women's teams and coaches in front of the Foundry Clubhouse. The 2009 Men's Soccer National Championship team. Women's Head Golf Coach, Ria Scott, Marlene Mizell, Coley Wortham, Bob Mizell, Lindsay Wortham and Men's Head Golf Coach, Bowen Sargent. Men's Soccer Reunion Saturday morning men's soccer alumni game. The winning team, Keiter CPAs with women's golf student-athlete Riley Smyth. Members of the 1991-1994 Men's Soccer National Championship team with Phyllis Arena.
