School Commits RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame extended its fourth running back offer of the 2021 class Sept. 29. Cincinnati Roger Bacon ball carrier Corey Kiner — who is listed as a three-star recruit, the No. 12 prospect in Ohio and the No. 20 running back nationally by Rivals — landed an offer from the Fighting Irish during a conversation with running backs coach Lance Taylor and defensive line coach Mike Elston. Kiner hopes to visit Notre Dame this fall. The Irish join Arkansas, Michi- gan, Michigan State and others on his offer list. • Centerville (Ohio) High class of 2022 quarterback Chase Harrison origi- nally planned to visit Notre Dame for the USC game Oct. 12, but his high school homecoming conflicted with that date. The 6-2, 185-pound sophomore standout moved his visit up a week and saw the Irish's contest against Bowling Green. Harrison holds early offers from Louisville, Penn and Toledo. Rivals has not ranked the class of 2022 yet. • There was some concern Southaven (Miss.) High defensive back Caleb Offord's verbal pledge to Notre Dame was in question after he earned an offer from Oklahoma over the summer. However, Offord told Blue & Gold Illustrated that he stands very firm with the Irish and does not plan to even visit Oklahoma. He is following up his words with actions as well. Offord and his family will visit Notre Dame when Virginia Tech comes to South Bend Nov. 2. The 6-1, 175-pounder is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 15 player in Mississippi and the No. 52 cornerback in the nation by Rivals. • Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn class of 2021 quarterback Ron Powlus III has visited Notre Dame for its past couple of home games. His father, Ron Powlus, was a four-year starter (1994-97) at quarterback for the Irish and is the program's current associate athletics director for football. He previously served as Notre Dame's director of player development. Rivals ranks the younger Powlus (6-3, 235) as a three-star prospect and the No. 19 pro-style quarterback in the nation. The Irish already have La Jolla (Calif.) The Bishop's School star Tyler Buchner committed at the position. • Notre Dame is targeting some elite talent on the offensive line in the 2021 class. There are a handful of guard and tackle prospects on the of- fensive line in the 2021 class that have visited South Bend in the past few months. Many of them have several Power Five offers, but don't have the Irish on their list quite yet. Chicago Marist class of 2021 offensive tackle Pat Coogan has Duke, Il- linois, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Syracuse on his early offer sheet, and the 6-5, 275-pounder visited Notre Dame for the New Mexico game Sept. 14. Rivals ranks Coogan as a three-star recruit, the No. 6 prospect in Illinois and the No. 33 offensive tackle nationally. — Mike Singer Follow @BGI_MikeSinger on Twitter for daily recruiting updates!
