White paced the squad with 22 receptions for 363 yards (16.5 yards per catch) and a team-best five touchdowns, while Long was right behind him with 21 receptions for a team-high 411 receiving yards (19.6 yards per catch) and one score. The Notre Dame pass defense continues to be the most reliable unit on the team this season. Through the nine contests, Notre Dame ranked seventh na- tionally in passing yards allowed per game (171.8) and 12th in pass efficiency defense (111.44 rating). However, the Notre Dame pass rush took another significant hit against Duke when star senior defen- sive end Julian Okwara was lost for the season and had his fine Notre Dame career prematurely end after breaking his left fibula. Advantage: Notre Dame NOTRE DAME RUNNING GAME VS. BOSTON COLLEGE RUN DEFENSE Persistent injuries to the Notre Dame running backs and its offensive line have left the Irish run game the most inconsistent and hard to evaluate operation on the team. When this campaign finishes, the only time that Notre Dame's top two running backs — junior Jafar Armstrong and senior T.J. Jones — and the entire starting offensive line was healthy and playing to- gether will be the first quarter of the season opener against Louisville.
